Cleaning, polishing and sealing are the steps that are followed to restore the shine of marble floors. Shree Abhayanand Marble provides the best and highest-quality White Marble in India.

Materials Needed

To get started, gather the necessary materials: a pH-neutral marble cleaner, soft microfiber cloths or mop, marble polishing powder or cream, polishing pads or a low-speed floor polisher, water, sealant (optional), gloves, and safety goggles.

Guide

  • Cleaning the Marble Floor: Start by cleaning the floor, either by dusting or sweeping to get rid of any loose dust or particles. This is to ensure that the marble surface does not get scratched in the process of cleaning it. It is advisable to use a soft broom or a dust mop to effectively clean the surface to remove any particles. Then, using a mop and a solution of pH-neutral marble cleaner and water, proceed to clean the floor. The use of a microfiber mop is recommended and it is recommended to make sure that the mop is only slightly wet to avoid water spots. After cleaning the floor with a mop, it is essential to dry the floor using a clean and dry microfiber cloth to avoid water absorption that can harm the marble.

  • Removing Stains: If the marble has stains, it is important to determine what type of stains these are, whether they are organic stains, oil stains or any other type of stains. This identification will assist in determining the right cleaning procedure to use. For deep stains, a poultice can be very useful. A poultice can be made using baking soda and water or you can purchase a marble stain remover. Apply the poultice over the stain, cover it with a plastic sheet and leave it for 24-48 hours. After the waiting period is over, one must remove the poultice and wash the affected area with water.

  • Polishing the Marble: The process of polishing is very important to enhance the shine of the surface. You can use a marble polishing powder or cream as directed by the manufacturer. Put the polish on a part of the floor that is not too large. If you are using a low-speed floor polisher with polishing pads, affix the pads and spread the polish on the marble in circles. For manual polishing, you can use a damp cloth to apply the polish and rub the area in a circular motion. After polishing, wash the area with clean water and wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth to avoid any residue that might reduce the shininess.

  • Sealing the Marble (Optional): Various additional measures can be taken to ensure your marble floor is well protected; one of them is sealing the floor if the marble is porous and easily stained. Ensure that you follow the product instructions on how to apply and the time it takes to dry. After the sealant has dried, dust the floor using a clean soft cloth to enhance the shine and give the floor added protection.

  • Maintenance Tips: It is important to note that to retain the shine on your marble floors, you need to ensure that you keep them clean. It is recommended to clean the floor often; vacuum or sweep and mop the floor regularly using a neutral cleaner to avoid accumulation of dirt. Do not use vinegar, lemon juice or any sharp cleaners as these are known to cause damage to the marble. To avoid getting the surface stained or scratched, place mats at the entrances and rugs in areas with much traffic.
